Ambassadors for Peace Richmond, Virginia
Honoring the Legacy of Peace, April 1st, 2010
Creating One Family Under God
Richmond Ambassadors for Peace helped to grace a beautiful gathering of dignitaries at the Sheraton National Hotel, in Northern Virginia, on April 1st. The event: "Honoring a Legacy of Peace: Memorial Festival of Ascension and Unity", was hosted by the Universal Peace Federation USA (UPF-USA). A special ceremony of ascension for all the deceased honorees called 'Seung Hwa', in Korean, was conducted to celebrate the great legacy of those who gave their lives for the advancement of peace throughout the world.
The honorees were: Hon. Hedi Annabi and 100 staff and volunteers of the United Nations killed in the Haiti earthquake; Gen. Alexander Haig, Jr., former US Secretary of State; Hon. Kim Dae-Jung, former president of South Korea, Hon. Abdurrahman Wahid, former president, Indonesia; Hon. Rodrigo Carazo, former president, Costa Rica; Bishop Phillip Johnson, American Clergy Leadership Conference; Hon. Walter Bipat, former parliament member, Guyana; and Ms. Marilyn Killingham, Free DC Movement. Special recognition was given to General Haig in that he led the bombing of Heungnam prison in North Korea, that resulted in the release of Rev. Moon after he was selected to be shot while in concentration labor camp, in 1950.
Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon (now 90 yrs old), founder of UPF International, blessed the event by giving a speech on the significance of preparing for life in the eternal spirit world. He was introduced by his second daughter, Rev. In Jin Moon (seen in red dress below), pastor and CEO of the American Unification Church. He spoke of the three great celebrations of life: birth, marriage and ascension (death). Asking, "What is the meaning of death?" He said, "Earthly life, the time of living in the air, parallels the time of swimming in the womb. We are living in a wrapping cloth of air. Death itself is not unique, but only our rebirth into the third life. That moment of transition is what we call death." He spent some time elaborating of the fact that man must return to God's embrace in the eternal spiritual world: "an event to be celebrated, not mourned. The Seung Wha is a great blessing given by God to the world." He said.
Rev. Moon also spoke on the path that the world will take in the next three years to 2013, and beyond. "God has given me this message to give to the world," He said. "The Kingdom of Heaven will be established soon. January 13th, 2013 will be the turning point. It will be year one of the Kingdom of Heaven on earth. The world of peace will become a true reality." He continued, "There will be great changes in government and in the world. Even as I speak, there is major geological reshaping taking place. A new calender has now been established, different from the solar calender: 'The heavenly calender.'"
The Ambassadors for Peace, from Richmond, were deeply inspired to be a part of this great event declaring the triumph of love and peace of those who had lived their lives for a higher purpose. Joining with hundreds of others: diplomats, clergy, politicians, academics and other leaders from the D.C. Metro and surrounding areas, imparted a special spirit of collective effort in the great march for peace and the Kingdom of God.
