Ambassadors for Peace Richmond, Virginia
The International Peace-Travels of Venerable Cang Kim
August 21, 2011
Creating One Family Under God
To travel the world and spread the love of peace is a dream of Venerable Cang Kim, Ambassador for Peace of Universal Peace Federation-Richmond. Ven. Kim has now visited 50 countries, each one has its unique story and memory. This past August 21st, he gave a brief slides presentation with narration on some of the countries that he visited. From Europe to the Middle East, to South East Asia, he recounts his fond memories of the historical places, their significance and special features.
As an Ambassador for Peace, he shows the sincere heart of a peacemaker: loving all people regardless of their race, religion or cultural backgroud. A month after returning from a peace-mission to Jamaica, West Indies, he was still aglow with the joys of the Caribbean Island that reminded him so much about his homeland, Cambodia.
When asked: "Why do you desire to visit so many countries?" He answered: "As a Buddhist monk it is important to 'go everywhere to learn everything and to see everything.' This is an important part of the path of pursuing enlightenment. To see how the people live, and to develop compassion and show generousity to everyone."
UPF encourages all AFPs to go out to the world in order to live for the sake of others. The founder of UPF, Rev. Sun Myung Moon has now spoken in over 180 nations and established peace-building projects throughout the world. His central message that God is the "True Parent" of Humankind, and his challenge to the nations of building "One Family under God", is now being taken seriously by many. He boldly proclaims that this (creating "One Family Under God") is the true path to realizing lasting world peace.
Venerable Kim, and possibly two other Richmond AFPs, are hoping to attend the "172 Special Clergy Peace-Mission to South Korea", set for September 9-24.
