Creating One Family Under God
Ambassadors for Peace from Richmond joined many others in the Metro D.C. area to celebrate the first annual "UN Global Day of Parents" at the Washington Times Building. The event was a luncheon co-sponsored by UPF International Office and the Washington Times Foundation.
“Global Day of Parents” was adopted by a UN Resolution on September 17, 2012.
Discussions took place centering on the essential role of parents in the family. UPF affirms the UN’s commitment to peace and human development. It maintains that strong marriage and family are indispensable for social health and well-being. UPF chapters worldwide celebrated the occasion.
Strong families play a major role in education and economic development as a whole. There is a growing recognition that strong families are an essential part of meeting the Millennium Development Goals and other developmental targets of the UN.
The main speakers at the D.C. program were: Dr. Rosa Rai Djalal, Wife of the Ambassador of the Embassy of Indonesia, President of the Muslim Women's Association; H.E.
